The Department of German Studies is in the College of Humanities.

Degrees, Majors, Minors, and Options:

Baccalaureate Degree

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

Graduate Degree -- consult the Graduate Catalog or the department office for details.

• Master of Arts (M.A.)

Major and Degrees -- undergraduate degrees link to Degree/Academic Program Requirements Reports (APRRs).

• German Studies (B.A., M.A.)

Undergraduate Minors -- minors link to Minor Requirements Reports.

A minor is required in the Bachelor of Arts degree programs; students may select any minor from among the list of approved University minors.  Minors available within the department are:

• German Studies Minor
• German Studies Teaching Minor

The Department of German Studies provides instruction designed to develop fluency in oral and written communication, knowledge of German literature, and insights into German cultural history. A number of opportunities for study and/or work abroad are available, including the department's summer program in Heidelberg.  A major in German Studies, by itself or in combination with another field, can open the door to careers in education, international business, the foreign service and many other professions.
