Degrees, Majors, Minors, and Options:

Baccalaureate Degree

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The undergraduate program requires a minor; students may select any minor from among the list of approved University minors.  Minors available within the department are:

• Arabic Minor
• Near Eastern Studies Minor
• Persian Minor

The Department of Near Eastern Studies provides programs of study in the history, cultures, languages, and geography of the geopolitical region of the world currently referred to as the Middle East or the Near East in antiquity.

The major for the Bachelor of Arts degree requires two years or the equivalent of Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Akkadian or other appropriate language. All courses are chosen in consultation with and approved by a departmental advisor.
