The Department of Emergency Medicine is in the College
of Medicine.
The department is
committed to providing the highest quality emergency and urgent care services.
The department also conducts top-level training programs for
paramedics, medical students, resident physicians and fellows, and community
physicians.
The Arizona Emergency
Medicine Research Center has a mission to investigate and improve emergency
medicine service for Arizona and all individuals suffering from urgent and
emergent conditions. The Center
has been recognized as a leader in improving prehospital care through both
educational and research projects. Educational
projects include developing original curricula and computer-based learning for
both classroom and self-study applications; paramedic training courses; and
EMS fellowships.
Current research
activities include injury control, epidemiological studies, trauma systems
evaluation, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, air medical research, outcomes
studies, and toxicology and hazards materials research.
