(1 unit) Description: Instruction often includes lectures by several different persons, usually in a small group setting. Designed to give students insight into the concepts and practices which typify different academic disciplines, and introduce students to the methods and standards of the discipline for discovering new knowledge, the values which characterize the field of study, advances in the field, impact on society, and career opportunities. (1 unit) Description: The practical application of practices relative to functioning within a group setting and involving an exchange of ideas and practical methods applicable to the advisement of youth organizations. (1-3 units) Description: A culminating experience for majors involving a substantive project that demonstrates a synthesis of learning accumulated in the major, including broadly comprehensive knowledge of the discipline and its methodologies. (3 units) Description: An honors thesis is required of all the students graduating with honors. Students ordinarily sign up for this course as a two-semester sequence.
