Major and Degrees
  • Psychology (B.A., B.S., M.A., Ph.D.) – The Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees with a major in Psychology were transferred to the College of Science, effective June 2009. For more information, contact the department office listed above.
  • Psychology Ph.D. and Law J.D. Dual degree program – The Doctor of Philosophy Degree with a major in Psychology was transferred to the College of Science, effective June 2009. For more information, contact the department office listed above.
Undergraduate Minors
  • Psychology Minor
  • Psychology Teaching Minor – The Psychology Teaching Minor was disestablished, effective June 2009. Students are encouraged to select the non-teaching Psychology Minor or consult with their major academic advisor about other options.

The Department:

The Department of Psychology is in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Note: As of June 2009, the Department of Psychology is in the College of Science.

The department offers courses that provide a scientific understanding of the biological, cognitive and social processes involved in behavior and mental life, including normal and abnormal processes.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology is considered a "Science Intensive major."  Bachelor of Science majors are required to complete all of the B.A. requirements, plus course work in a biological laboratory science in chemistry or physics and additional mathematics courses.

Each undergraduate program in Psychology requires a minor; B.A. students may select any minor from among the list of approved University minors.  BS students are required to select a minor in one of the following areas:  Biochemistry, Computer Science, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Mathematics, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physics, or the Pre-Health Professions minor.
