Introduction: The School of Mathematical Sciences is in the College of Science. While the administrative unit includes the Applied Mathematics GIDP and the Statistics GIDP, the Graduate College awards the degrees for these degrees. Mathematics forms a foundation for all technical disciplines and is an excellent preparation for a career or graduate study in many subjects. The school offers courses in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, probability and statistics, computational mathematics, engineering mathematics and mathematics education. Planned minors in numerous professional fields are available; interested students should consult with an advisor in the School of Mathematical Sciences to help choose the option, minor, and additional course work that best prepares them for their chosen career. The school participates in the honors program. For more information contact the school listed above. |
