Course Descriptions: Winter 99/Spring 00 - Fall 1999 The Honors College provides special opportunities for undergraduate students who demonstrate the highest levels of curiosity, creativity, and academic achievement. Honors courses and discipline-specific advising are offered in departments. The Honors College is responsible for a variety of academic, social, and cultural activities and programs. Program requirements In order to graduate with Honors, a student must 1) maintain a 3.5 grade point average, 2) complete 24 units of Honors courses (12 units if entering Honors as a junior or senior), 3) complete both semesters of 498H, Honors Senior Thesis, or departmental equivalent, and 4) submit a completed Honors Thesis to the Honors College prior to graduation. Honors Contracts The Honors contract enables students to earn Honors credit in
non-Honors courses. Students and Faculty design specific work that the student
will do for Honors credit. Some faculty members have established a standard
contract for their courses which has been pre-approved by the Honors College.
Students are limited to using contracts for six units of upper division and six
units of lower division credits (except for students majoring in engineering or
entering Honors as juniors or seniors). Policies, contract forms, and more
