Academic Advising Support
Undergraduate Academic Advising
Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between a student and an academic advisor. The intent of this collaboration is to assist the student in developing meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities. Although many individuals on campus, including academic advisors, may assist the student in making decisions and accomplishing goals, the academic advisor is granted formal authority by an academic unit (college, school, department) to approve the student's academic program of study and assist the student in progressing toward the appropriate degree.
The institution, academic advisor and individual student each have a role in the advising relationship. Learn more about academic advising at the Advising Resource Center website.

Academic advising for students who have not selected a major. No Major Selected (NMS):
Students who are undecided about which major to declare can meet with advisors in The A Center. They are experienced in working with students who are exploring a variety of majors, or students can declare NMS in a college in which they are fairly certain they will declare a major. For example, student wants to major in a science but has not decided which one. In this case it would be wise to declare NMS in Science.
A list of the colleges and links to the academic advisors who work with students who are exploring majors, can be found under No Major Selected on the Advising Resource Center website.
