Course Description

In this course, operations of wastewater treatment processes are presented in details. Characteristics of wastewater in-fluent, effluent, sludge, and bio-solids are presented based on U.S. EPA and Arizona rules and regulations. Agricultural drainage and irrigation water quality are presented. Reuse of wastewater treated effluent in irrigating crops is discussed. Reuse of treated bio-solids in agricultural production and generation of renewable energy are presented in details. Registering for and taking the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) operators certification exam before the end of the semester is optional and highly recommended. This test qualifies graduating engineers to compete for engineering jobs at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities in the US and around the world.
