Course Description
To provide the student with an opportunity to participate in ongoing laboratory or clinical research in the Department of Anesthesiology. Format: Determined by the student in conjunction with the supervising faculty member. Currently, topics under investigation include: Phase I, II, II, and IV clinical trials with new medications, engineering, and evaluation of anesthesia delivery systems and anesthesia monitoring equipment, human factors (interaction of the physician with anesthesia equipment and with the operating room environment), optimal management of anesthesia, and basic research into pain mechanisms and pain pharmacology.
