Course Description

This course examines the various theoretical and methodological challenges inherent to the study of indigenous art, through a discussion of the issues raised by the intersections of Native and non-Native arts and cultures-addressing issues of identity, sovereignty, cultural critique, and the role of the artist. In addressing the interdisciplinary nature of the field, students will seek to find strategies in approaching their own research.
