This course surveys the role of photography in contemporary art. Themes include: the 'photo boom' of the 1970s, photography's relationship to other art movements, the rise of alternative and digital processes, and globalism. Graduate-level requirements include a longer paper with a methodological or historiographic statement and a presentation on the paper.
