Course Description
Introduction to the basic chemical and physical concepts impacting the properties of organic and inorganic materials with specific electronic and optical response. The course is designed to provide a broad perspective with discussion going from synthetic aspects to electronic-structure characteristics and device fabrication aspects. Materials under scrutiny include e.g. high-Tc superconductors, conducting polymers, nonlinear optical compounds, liquid crystals, optical fibers, luminescent and photochromic compounds.
