Course Description

Examination of the personalities and events leading to the discovery of evolution, the scientific community's response thereto and subsequent developments including the in-corporation of genetics into evolutionary theory. Time permitting, the following topics will also be addressed: Neo-Larmackianism and the Lysenko affair, social Darwinism, craniometry and eugenics, sociobiology, and the implications of recent discoveries in genetics and development.
