Course Description
This course introduces students to the foundational topics, practices, and methodologies of educational research. The course provides skills to identify, read, and analyze research literature from peer-reviewed sources. Students will have the opportunity to explore their research topics of interest and learn about educational theories, conceptual and theoretical frameworks, methods, and procedures for gathering and representing data. Students will also reflect on their scholar identity, including their positionalities and subjectivities, and how these shape research. Throughout this course, we also learn and share best practices to efficiently complete graduate coursework, write quality dissertations/theses, present conference papers or posters, publish scholarly articles, and apply for grants in the field of education.
