Course Description

The course is offered over the web and has a complete set of materials including pre-requisite review material, course content, quiz problems, and exercise problems. There will be scheduled instructor office hours and scheduled chat sessions for students to obtain help with the material. The students work at their own pace during the 5 week session and then take a final exam at the end. Mechanics of Solids - relationship between external forces acting on elastic and inelastic bodies and the resulting behavior; normal and shear stresses, applications to bars, beams, shafts and columns, and combined stresses.
