GEOS216 - Dinosaurs: The Real Jurassic Park

Geosciences Undergraduate UA - UA General

Course Description

The Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchises opened up the world of dinosaurs to movie audiences worldwide, but how accurate are these movies, did real dinosaurs look the way they are portrayed in film, and could they have done everything they are shown doing? In GEOS 216, students will, through a series of lectures and assignments centered around scenes from the movies, survey the science of dinosaur paleobiology, understand how and why dinosaurs are studied, and grapple with the evidence presented to paleontologists in the fossil record.
