Course Description

This course is designed to highlight the important differences between the various rules of procedure governing practice in the Arizona state courts and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which are addressed extensively in the first-year Civil Procedure courses. This course will specifically address critical differences including jurisdiction, venue, service of process, offers of judgment, mandatory disclosures, nonparties at fault, compulsory arbitration, right to a jury trial, jury instructions, non-unanimous verdicts, special actions, the duties of lawyers, and the courts' power to sanction attorney conduct.
