Course Description
The purpose of this elective is to introduce the student to the field of allergy and clinical immunology, a field that includes the most common, chronic diseases affecting both children and adults.
1. To gain a specialized understanding of the evaluation and treatment of Allergic Rhinitis, Anaphylaxis, Asthma and pulmonary hypersensitivity disorders/ABPA, Drug Allergy, Food Allergy, Sinusitis, Urticaria/Angioedema, Venom Hypersensitivity.
2. To learn the indications for immediate or delayed hypersensitivity skin testing in the evaluation of allergic disorders.
3. To recognize Primary Immunodeficiency in the adult population, including Common Variable Immunodeficiency, Specific Antibody Deficiency, and IgA deficiency, and to learn the initial workup and management of these patients.
