Course Description
This is a beginning general education piano course open to all undergraduate university students, regardless of major. This course explores the creative nature and process of making music at the piano. A goal is to provide a basis for lifelong valuing of the musical experience and music making so that the student will continue with the piano as a source of self-expression and growth. The course introduces and develops an understanding of the basic concepts of music and the fundamentals of the keyboard. Solo and ensemble keyboard repertoire, sight-reading, playing by ear, improvisation and composition, harmonization, and applications of music technology are creatively explored throughout the course.
