Course Description
This course provides a chronological survey of European art music composed between c. 1600 and 1750 and is intended primarily for graduate students in music, whose knowledge of the rich musical heritage of Baroque music is deepened through class lectures and daily listening and score study assignments. Students should come away from the course with a detailed knowledge of the development of Western art music from 1600-1750. Graduate-level requirements include a 50 pt. research prospectus.
