Theories and models of illness management and health promotion used in nursing and healthcare in connection with chronic illness will be explored and examined. Thematic consistencies among the theories and models will provide the basis for discussion. Constructs and concepts in illness management and health promotion will be highlighted and include examples of how they have been measured in extant research.
