Course Description

Continuation of PHYS 570A. Covers discrete symmetries (parity inversion, lattice translations, time reversal, exchange symmetries and correlations); approximation methods (time-dependent and time-independent perturbation theory, variational techniques, WKB approximation); transition rates and Fermi's Golden Rule; relativistic quantum mechanics (Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations). Also covers scattering theory and interaction of radiation with matter as time permits.
