Course Description
What cognitive skills do various animal species share with humans? Â Are cognitive similarities across species due to shared genetics or shared environmental demands? Some of the cognitive skills explored in this course include: the ability to generalize beyond specific experiences to a more abstract representation of the world; awareness of self and others; learning to use tools from other members of your species; communication and language; and social structure and morality. Â Research on these topics provides new perspectives on what it means to be human.
