Course Description

Introductory physics of planetary and interplanetary fluids, plasmas, and solid bodies. Thermodynamics, kinetic theory, fluid dynamics, transport theory, rotational and tidal response theory and orbital mechanics, applied to solar system objects. Students will be expected to be familiar with vector calculus and ordinary and partial differential equations. In addition, students will be expected to know, or learn, a programming language such as C, Fortran, IDL or MATLAB.
