Course Description
Goals:
The students will become familiar with advancements in brain tumor therapy and gain experience in neurological complications of cancer and in cancer pain management.
Format:
Students will attend neuro-oncology clinics at AHSC, Tucson or at a private practice. They will also evaluate and follow selected hospitalized patients, observe appropriate neurosurgical and radiotherapeutic procedures and attend weekly brain tumor conferences.
Evaluation Methods:
1.Observation of the student's examination skills, knowledge and participation during the elective.
2.A short presentation (50 minutes) reviewing a specific topic in neuro-oncology will be required.
3.An evaluation form will be used to assess the utility of the elective.
