Course Description

Sound is everywhere and this class will introduce to all aspects of sound. We will cover the physical characteristics of sound and how we can represent sound graphically. We will talk about the ear and brain and how we make sense of the sound around us, including speech perception and sound localization. In the third unit, we ask how animals, humans, and music instruments produce sounds before we will go on a journey of sound phenomena in everyday life.
