Course Description

This course focuses on principles of treatment for children with language and communication disorders, aged birth -five, with the goal of preparing future speech language pathologists to competently work with this population. The course is divided into four main sections: Treatment Principles and Concepts; Knowledge of the Caseload; Knowledge of Treatment Options; and Writing Goals and Planning Treatment. In addition to gaining knowledge and learning how to apply it to clinical scenarios, learners will build skills in understanding the literature, finding, and evaluating evidence, understanding family and cultural differences, and gaining awareness of professional/ethical issues.
