Course Description

The course is focused on the interrelation and coevolution of soils and landscapes, with an emphasis on arid and semiarid systems. The course covers topics in soil geomorphology, soil stratigraphy, soil mapping, and soil-landscape evolution, including conceptual and quantitative models of pedogenesis. The course emphasizes the role of climate and environmental change, including modern- and paleo-environmental perspectives, on soil-landscape processes and using soil data to understand current and past environmental conditions.
