Course Description

This course studies the theoretical frameworks of funds of knowledge and classic capital theory. Furthermore, this course studies the relationship between funds of knowledge and the forms of capital, including human, social, and cultural capital within the institutional lens and context of Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Drawing on the existing scholarly literature from a variety of disciplines, including economics, sociology, anthropology, and education, the course provides students with multiple opportunities to discuss the definitions of these conceptualizations, methods, and the proxies used to measure these concepts, particularly within MSIs.
