Course Description
Goals/Objectives: The purpose of this elective clerkship is provide students with the opportunity to experience the care of musculoskeletal problems and sports related injuries. This is designed as an outpatient experience at the Arizona Institute for Sports Medicine and University of Arizona Campus Health Service with possible participation in sideline/onsite event coverage.
Format: The medical student will serve as a team member at the above clinics working with physicians of various specialties, athletic trainers and physical therapists. The medical student will have responsibilities that may include obtaining outpatient history and physical exams, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and working with team members to optimize patient care.
