Course Description

The grant writing workshop consists of two eight hour lectures conducted over two consecutive Saturdays during the Spring semester. It is designed to provide students with the concepts needed to develop a competitive grant application. The primary focus will be on designing and completing an NIH R01 grant although other NIH granting mechanisms R03, R21, F awards, and K awards will also be discussed. Lectures will include an overview of the overall grant structure, the sections of a completed application, the intent of each of the sections, and the key information that should be included in each. Emphasis will be given to designing a coherent, logical story that is well justified and supported with preliminary data.
