HistoryUndergraduateUA - UA General

Course ID

Course Description

This course introduces students to Europe in a formative historical period, the early modern age between 1500 and 1800. Encompassing the time between the Protestant Reformation and the Enlightenment, this era is both fundamentally different from our own, but also laid the groundwork for the world we live in today. Students will analyze general characteristics of the period, like social hierarchy and gender relations, religion and religious persecution, politics and colonialism, economics, and epidemics. Students will also explore the lives of individuals and their experiences in this era and compare these experiences with other historical periods, the world today, and their own experiences.
