Course Description
Introductory course covering the fundamental processes in the Mining Industry for sustainable resource development. Students will learn the science, engineering, and policies to identify mineral commodities of industrial and economic value, locate an ore deposit, plan surface and underground mines, operate mines and processing facilities, equipment selection, reclaim mine sites, and work with communities. A full semester feasibility study and mine plans will be developed using world class field data and operating parameters, with the opportunity to incorporate innovative technologies, such as autonomous vehicles and simulation.
