Course Description
To gain a better understanding of the neurological history and physical examination as it pertains to the neurosurgical patient. To understand what constitutes a neurosurgical emergency. To gain a basic understanding of the management of the following neurosurgical problems: a) head injury, both minor and severe, b) spinal injury, with and without neuro deficit, c) cervical and lumbar disc disease, d) carotid occlusive disease, e) aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, f) brain tumor, g) epilepsy management, h) movement disorders surgery, i) outpatient neurosurgical care/evaluation.
To gain a better understanding of the different types of neuro-radiology imaging tests and how they are used in neurosurgical patients.
