Course Description
The purpose of this course is to extend and expand teacher candidates' understanding of the many dimensions of teaching young children and to develop a professional plan to be engaged in leadership and advocacy to support children, families and communities. Course readings and discussions focus on the knowledge and skills needed by reflective professionals and leaders in early childhood education. Teacher candidates will complete a final assessment of their own interactions with children and families to document their practices and complete their cumulative program website-based portfolio including a career plan, incorporating advocacy, leadership, and continued professional development.
