Course Description

This course introduces the students to the social and linguistic aspects of the languages and cultures of the major Middle Eastern regions, focusing on the influence of social variables such as region, ethnicity, gender, and class on linguistic attitude and use, and the relation between linguistic variation and sociocultural identity.
