Course Description

This course is a comprehensive introduction to philosophical issues in sport: the nature of sports and games, gamesmanship, fair play, e-sports and their classification. It also explores contemporary ethical questions surrounding sports: Should players be allowed to use performance enhancing drugs? Is it fair for transgender athletes to compete in women's sports? Is it ethical to exclude them? What is the difference between cheating and gamesmanship? We will explore these questions and more issues in contemporary philosophy of sport among students.
