Course Description
Theory of batch and sequential (Kalman) filtering as applied to the optimal estimation of spacecraft orbit and attitude, including a review of necessary concepts of probability and statistics. Information filters, smoothing, consider covariance analysis, and introduction to nonlinear filtering. Course work includes a term project that allows students to apply theory to an actual spacecraft orbit determination problem using real ranging data.
