Course Description
Students will develop an understanding of the management of obesity and related disease. They will be exposed to the optimal evaluation of the patient with obesity through utilizing a unique, obesity specific history and physical exam that they can apply in any setting. Students will have the opportunity to understand the value that collaboration on difficult patients can bring to their care, improve the patient experience of care and decrease costs. They will receive training in the traditional approach to obesity through diet and exercise fundamentals as well as exposure to the use of pharmaceuticals, devices and surgery. The importance of provider engagement and long term follow up will also be emphasized.
