Course Description
This course will identify the dynamics that drive the accumulation and distribution of capital; investigate how modern economic growth and the diffusion of knowledge have allowed countries to limit inequalities on the apocalyptic scale predicted by Marx; illustrate how the optimistic expectations of growth of the aftermath of World War II have not been met and the effects this has had on the structures of capital and inequality; and analyze how the assumption of constant growth has influenced the development of legal institutions.
