Course Description
This will be a course to assist students, as future health policy decision makers, to be able to understand published research, interpret study results, and decide whether conclusions from studies are justified and appropriate. This course will provide a survey of the methods commonly used to evaluate outcomes (including costs) in public health and medical care studies relevant to health policy. Students will review, discuss, and present critiques of published literature on each of the methods topics included. Students will also complete a final project examining and critiquing the evidence for statements made in the popular press regarding the U.S. health care system.
