Course ID

Course Description

Guardianship law will be a rising area as the national and Arizona population ages. Knowledge of guardianship processes are helpful (if not necessary) for practitioners in estate planning, elder care, and family law. Civil commitment overlaps in many areas of law, as clients going through this process often have corresponding legal issues. Students will analyze the shift of civil commitment law over the last 70 years and formulate their own theories on what is \"better\" for the individual, the state, and society. Students will be expected to participate in in-depth theoretical discussions, which will be applied to civil commitment law in practice.
