Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to federal telecommunications law, including the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The class will address the major forms of mass communication: broadcasting, wireline and wireless telephony, cable television, and the Internet. Topics to be covered include the methods and means of controlling entry, permissible and non-permissible content regulation, public interest obligations, and non-discriminatory service. While helpful, no technical background is necessary.
