POL671 - Global Political Economy
Course ID
039415
Course Description
This course will survey the contingent development of the 'world economy' and how that history continues to shape state-market-household linkages and contemporary problems of inequality, conflict and governance. Drawing on a range of theoretical perspectives, the class examines key structural features of today's global political economy and encourages critical, self-reflective analyses to more adequately understand and potentially address deepening of inequalities between and within nation-states, the destructive effects of recurring financial crises, and the global insecurities these entail.
