Course Description

An introduction to life in the ocean and its basic unifying principles, with a major emphasis on the evolution of diverse life forms in the ocean and on the natural history of marine animals. Key ocean habitats are explored, such as coral reefs, kelp forests, and the deep sea. Effects of humans on ocean habitats, conservation solutions, and benefits provided to humans by healthy oceans, are analyzed.
