Course Description

This course serves as a learning environment workshop, a musical ensemble functioning as a big band, and an outreach activity of the UA, specifically the UA School of Music. As such, historically, it has worked as a semi-professional inside/outside campus organization providing beneficial musical experiences for a wide and varied audience. Please change the learning outcomes to: 1. Perform at a collegiate level in a jazz ensemble. 2. Respond appropriately in an ensemble setting with regard to a number of musical issues such as balance, color, articulation, style, intonation, intensity, etc. 3. Demonstrate the physical and mental technique and discipline necessary to continue improving musical technique and expression over time. 4. Demonstrate musical maturity and comfort in a live performance setting.
