Course Description
Why do countries choose to democratize? Who are the actors who foster this choice? In general, what factors impede and promote a transition to democracy? In this course, students will read multiple texts that consider these questions. They will critically engage with each to develop their own understanding of what has historically driven democratization processes around the world, beginning in its earliest expressions to the present-day.
