Course Description
This course will overview lifespan changes in cognitive development, with a particular emphasis on memory as a developmental subfield. In this context, we will overview key developments in memory process, methods of measuring learning and memory in infants, lifespan transitions in memory and learning through later adulthood, fundamental debates about the nature of these processes, and major guiding theories of developmental psychology, including cognitive and social-emotional perspectives. A portion of the course will also cover the causes and consequences of fractured memory development, including acquired lesions, childhood trauma and stress exposure, and neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism.
