Course Description

This course is the study of internal or inter-state crises that include human rights challenges of varying levels, such as conflict, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and civil or political turmoil. Through audio, visuals, readings, discussions and case studies, students will develop the skills needed to understand and critically evaluate crises situations and assess the possibilities of local or global efforts to alleviate human rights challenges or abuses. The class will include videoconferences with guest lectures most familiar with the situation.
